Navigating Terminal on MacOS

Here are a list of useful commands to navigate through your filesystem using Terminal

  • display current path
  • pwd
  • go to home directory
  • cd
  • go to root directory
  • cd /
  • go to previous parent directory
  • cd .
  • display what is in the current directory
  • ls
  • display files in current directory including hidden files
  • ls -a
  • open current directory in finder
  • open .
  • list all available commands in shell
  • compgen -c
